Hi folks. A couple of friends of mine are coming over from Germany and I thought it would be a good idea for as many of us as possible to catch up with them while they are in Glasgow. Details will be finalised nearer the time.

Kerstin (Happycat) and I will be staying at the Eurohostel from Friday to Sunday inclusive. Unfortunately Dorothea is unable to make it. Plans over the weekend include at least two meals (Italian and Indian are looking favourable) and we are hoping to get to see some live music. We are keeping in touch with some friends so we can put our time in Glasgow to full use. If any of you want to join us at any time feel free to let us know, and we will sort out some fixed plans nearer the time. It would be good to meet up with as many Glasgow based friends as possible, and if others want to travel for the occasion, you are more than welcome too!! |

It looks highly likely that Kerstin and I will be going to one of the DiMaggios in Glasgow on the Friday, not sure what time yet. (We are still waiting to hear what musical possibilities are on offer before we set meal times ) Saturday.. looks like a meet up for a drink, then on to the Kama Sutra for a meal before going on to a gig somewhere. Things on the music front are still in the pipeline, so details are still sketchy.
However the possible list of attendees has grown..
So far we have (for Saturday)
Kerstin
BAlmighty
Pamie
Dianne
Shirl
Again I apologise for the sketchy plans, but the weekend is some time off yet and details have yet to be finalised. |

Some folk from the Sosimpleminded.com site have expressed an interest, and it looks like we are going to be joined by Alison, Marky and possibly Peggieboy on the Saturday, though not sure of the time for them. Good to see that interest is growing. |

Hi guys!
I have been talking with my hubby about this meetup, and I'm not certain about anything yet (don't know what the meetup weekend looks like and all), but he earned some money lately with working on Saturdays and we might use that to come to Glasgow in October!
We will need some place very cheap to stay, and we will not be able to spend much money during the weekend, but I would love to meet you all!
We can't get free time from work probably, so it will be arriving on Friday night / Saturday morning and leaving on Sunday.
So if anybody can help me out with as much information as possible, that would be grand! _________________ You know I can't resist you!

Hi Edith
Kerstin and I are booked in at the Eurohostel in Clyde St. It's very reasonable, and is good if you are in Glasgow on a budget. I've stayed there a few times. Hope to see you in October!! |

Hi Shirl!
I got that hotel recommendation from Bruce as well, and it IS very reasonable. I must have walked passed that hotel a million time when I was at Glasgow! The day we met the guys of Transaudio at the railwaystation, we parked our car in Jamaica Street and been wandering around whole day!
But the problem I encounter now, is the price of the flight to Glasgow.
No EasyJet plane from Schiphol to Glasgow, so the cheapest flight will cost € 99,- each!
So I will try and see if there is a cheaper way, like flight to Edinburgh and go by train (or being picked up there?).
And could you please give me an idea what weekend plans there are? Is it only fans I will meet, or is there something else planned? I must see if it's worth it to spend our money on.
If there is something bigger coming up this year (like in December), I might better continue saving for that?
I NEED INFO! _________________ You know I can't resist you!

OK.. I can't promise anything, but Brian McGee is aware of the meet up, and we are in touch with his friend Simon who was at Rotherham with him. It is more of an informal fan meet up. Members of 4GM are more than welcome to join us, maybe even arrange a gig somewhere that night (PLEASE, ).. Seriously, I have also been in touch with Ken, manager of The Tracks, to see if there is a possibility of them doing a Glasgow gig that weekend. He is seeing Billy (maybe other band members) later this week, so we'll see what comes of that. There will be (I have been reliably informed) a Glasgow 4GM gig in late December.. I would suggest between Christmas and New Year as that has been the norm for the past couple of years. If you are on a budget and have a choice of the two events, I would suggest you hang fire until December. However, you are more than welcome at the October meet up, it would be great to catch up with you in "real life". It might be an idea to see what the flight prices are to Prestwick Airport rather than Glasgow itself, or maybe Edinburgh. Get back to me and let me know..
Love Shirl xx |

btw, The Eurohostel is a hostel not a hotel, but it's still pretty good, and very well situated
