I recall often seeing Billy in Fat Sams nightclub in Dundee in the mid-80's. It was around about the time the Perhaps album was released and "Waiting For The Loveboat" was a popular dancefloor filler. Whenever he heard the opening line to it ... he'd disappear into the loos and, invariably, stayed there for the remainder of the night. He was so embarressed of his success.
If you're into Billy's material, check out a book called "The Glamour Chase" written by fellow Dundonian, Tom (Tam, as I knew him!) Doyle. Excellent insight into Billy's brief rise to stardom and the tragedy of his end. _________________ BITE ME! |
