Saturday 27 December

Keith and I travelled left Rainford at 7am, and arrived in Glasgow just before noon. We parked up on the Jamaica St Car Park, made our way to RS McColl's for a quick chat with our friend Karen before catching the Old Firm game at Times Square. After it finished, we checked in at Jury's. We met up with Andrea and Jim, and went back to Times Square, and caught up with Hans and Eileen. We spent a while in there before moving on to MacSorleys where we continues with our chatting and drinking.. Poor Hans had trouble understanding my English, and decided to carry on the conversation in German.. (He explained my German was easier to understand!!  Shocked ) I wouldn't agree with that one, Kerstin.. so please don't expect me to speak your language fluently!!

Keith and I hadn't eaten since breakfast at Gretna, so we moved on to a Chinese restaurant where we had a buffet. We bumped into Hans as we were making our way back towards MacSorleys. He was heading for his bus home. Keith called it a night, and I rejoined the posse in the pub. Tiredness got the better of Jim, and he too went back to the hotel, leaving us girls to continue with our chatting. Time was moving on, and Andrea and Vickie decided that pizzas were calling, so we left MacSorleys, for a wee pizza place near Central Station. Andrea and I walked Vickie back to her hotel, then headed back to Jurys, after a first day/night out in Glasgow.

End of Part One!!

Sunday 28 December

After breakfast at the Crystal Palace, Keith and I went to the Inntro Bar at Jurys to watch the Newcastle v Liverpool game. We were very rock and roll with our choice of opening round of drinks - two cups of tea!! I don't know whether it was the fresh morning air, but I followed that with a hot chocolate with the next round as Keith enjoyed his first pint of the day!! We stayed in the bar while watching the other football updates come through, keeping Andrea and Jim informed of the news from the Everton v Sunderland match.. (don't worry Billy, I won't mention the result too much in this journal, I think you suffered enough yesterday!!)

We arranged to meet Will and Bruce in the Crystal Palace at 6pm, and it was lovely to be joined there by Robert and Heather. We had a couple of drinks there before moving on to the Classic Grand in time to see Kieran Docherty play his support slot. It was lovely to see Pamie and Dianne there with their friend Sandy. We don't meet up loads, but it's always good to catch up with you when we do.

Fourgoodmen played a really good set. A little niggles on the tech front here and there, but nothing that would put you off seeing the band again. Fun highlight of the night was the emergence of a new band member, an inflatable one at that. New song added to the set list courtesy of the crowd "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer"!! The new stuff, as much as I liked them the first time around, have grown on me even more. What a bonus to hear The Clash's London Calling thrown in there too..

Time flies when you are enjoying yourself, and all to soon the set was done and dusted, and the partying begin. I had time to catch up with friends old and new in the VIP area before heading to the dancefloor to join Will courtesy of Orange Juice's Rip It Up. I spent the rest of the evening chatting to Vickie, Billy, Andrea, Jim, and Will (inbetween various dances)

After leaving to make way for the party of folk who were queueing for the next event at the CG, we said our goodnights to various friends and bandmembers, wished Malky a Happy Birthday as we passed him his card, and as Andrea and Jim saw Vickie safely back to her hotel, I walked onto Jurys where Will and Eileen called their taxis to get themselves home.

Great time had by one and all, spent with some lovely friends  Very Happy
