After enjoying such a great weekend last summer, the Gibson clan, along with our travelling gigging buddy Keith are going to Balloch for the weekend of 24-26 July to enjoy the Lomond Folk Festival. Highlights of last year included Donnie Munro headlining on the Saturday night, AHAB, Clanadonia and Sunrise Not Secular. I believe that Clanadonia are back by popular demand (again) and will no doubt be playing at various pubs in and around Balloch that weekend. My personal hightlight this year will be catching Capercaillie live on the Sunday night. I haven't seen them for some time, and it's something I am looking forward to putting right. Following on from the weekend there, we are venturing on the South Shields where I'm trusting we'll be able to meet up with Tabnab and Billy among others. Hopefully there'll be a table awaiting us in one of the curry houses in Ocean Road either on Tuesday or Wednesday, before we make our way home on the Thursday..

Hope you get a lovely sunny weekend for that, Shirley
I'm heading down to Bolton on the 25th to see Stillmarillion who are a local Marillion tribute band. I've known two of the band for several years now and like to try and support them as much as possible (plus their gigs are usually the backdrop to a right good night out ) _________________ All hail the armageddon kid!

I know someone who likes Marillion. He went to see an acoustic session by Fish in a HMV store. Everyone got locked in apparently. After the impromptu performance Fish took my friend to a local sushi bar and treated him to the finest in rawness. This was an adventure for him as he is used to eating simple foods such as big fat sandwiches, kiwi fruits, BIG MUFFins, Toffee Yoghurts etc etc.
He's been HOOKED on Fish and Marillion ever since. |
