Ok- here we go – here`s my review of the Community Meet-up, the Simple Minds Concert and the Aftershow-Party with FourGoodMen:

I went to Scotland on Dec. 1st – met some friends of my Aunty first ( she sadly passed away ) and we spent a nice couple of days – made a Day-Trip to Loch Lomond, shared some memories and things.

On the 3rd I headed up to Glasgow – did some Sightseeing and walking round the Town and had a great time.

Then there was the 4th:

What can I say – it started off nice and ended up to be a perfect and still unbelieveable day and night !
At morning I did some shopping, went scating on George Square and again did some Sightseeing. I just love Glasgow – all those Victorian Buildings mixed with modern Architecture. Central Station for example is one of those Buildings in a Building ( I am not perfect at describing this right…. ) you just have to love !
I`ll put pics of the whole Trip on my myspace soon.
And a big bonus – all those friendly people. It always surprises me again – when I`m in Scotland – the friendliness and how people open up to strangers all of a sudden – that`s what makes me feel always really “home” and welcome when I am up there.
And that`s written without having the pink holiday Glasses on *smile* !
Let me tell you – most of the Germans are far away from that !!! It always is kind of a Culture-Shock when I am back home…. !
At some time in the morning Shirley gave me a call – telling me that they are on their way from Newcastle to Glasgow. I just so couldn`t await it to meet her and Keith finally.
At early afternoon I had a little rest in my Room and received another call from Shirl – telling me that they arrived safely at the Jury`s Inn and asked me to meet up in about 10 mins.
So I made my way across the Street to the Jury`s ( which was exactly on the other site of the Street of my Hostel ) and finally met up with Shirl and Keith. They are both sort of special friends and I was soooo excited.
While we hugged and chatted at the Foyer – even a few more Members of our Community arrived. It was so great to meet Lore and friends, the Aussies - included Tracey and Victoria, Tina, Sandra, Kerstin #1 *lol*, and as another highlight: Andrea and Jim. Sorry if I forgot to mention a few members or even mix up things – I couldn`t get all the Names that fast……

Community Meet up

Shirl, Keith and I then went to the “ Square Peg “ – the Pub in which our Pre-Gig-Meet-up was organised by Karen and her daughter.
As we arrived there – nobody seemed to be there and I was getting scared ( inside ) of missing something. Not soon after we took a seat – the Meeting-Up began. Karen and her daughter ( thanks for that ), Aglia and Elizabeth which I was longing to meet, arrived and soon were followed by a few other members and the Room was filling up with all you nice people that makes our Community so special. Sorry if I am not gonna mention all of you by Name – or even forgot some…… It was nice to meet Lindsay, Alison and Mathew, Simon, Will ( another highlight ), Darryn ( and again another highlight ), and so many others.
We chatted – had fun and while Shirl and Keith were having a meal Shirl told me about a Secret she had to keep, something about a surprise of ( maybe ) meeting someone soon. I was joking in saying – it would be perfect if it would be Mick McNeil and she kept smiling at me – telling me nothing else…..
Not soon after that – she said: he is here. I didn`t get it right first – asked twice – who ? and where ? Then Shirl said – Mick – he`s here – right now in the Pub…. It took me a few seconds to get moved…… I hardly could believe it first……
Then I went to the Bar and had a look and couldn`t believe my eyes – it really was Mick having a chat with some of the Community. So I went to ask him about an autograph and a pic and got both – plus that he is a very friendly man. I still can`t believe it after all ! This was a dream I thought will never come true at all – getting myself an autograph and even a pic that is ! - and it was absolutely perfect !!! A big hug and thanks to Kelley and Karen – who, I found out afterwards – did organise this !
We all had fun this afternoon, sharing memories, stories and were chatting away and then it was time to go to the first Gig of the evening.

Simple Minds

Shirl, Keith, Lindsay and I went together to see Simple Minds at the SECC. At the venue we met up with Carol – another Member I was hoping to meet !
Then we splitted up to take our seats and enjoyed the Show. First – there was the Supporting Act “ The Alarm “ and I am not ashamed to say Wink

that I really liked them.
I saw Shirl waving and dancing with her Welsh Banner and still have to smile remembering that.
What can I say – Simple Minds seemed to perform perfect to me – except some Sound-Probs ( me thinks ) – Jim did a good job and I felt sort of honoured – because the place were I was seated was mostly filled with “ dead fish “ like Darryn calls them *smile* - that means we were three girls in our Block having fun and all the others kept quiet most of the time….. So we did some extra shouting, singing and having fun jumping and dancing around. ( Sadly I forgot the Names of my two nice Neighbors ( got pics ! ) but they got my address – so hopefully we`ll stay in touch….. )
And Jim obviously saw this and did wave and point twice directly to us during the Show. It just was great. Charlie “ THE MAN “ great as ever and Eddie “ THE OTHER MAN “ – sexy as ever Wink

. They all just have been great !!!
The only thing I didn`t really like was the seating in general at this Venue and the Security. I even wasn`t allowed to step down my seat….. *grrrr*
The Show was over all too soon – an extra highlight for me was “ Home “ and “ Chelsea Girl “ !

FourGoodMen

We had some trouble getting a Cab afterwards – cause all we wanted after the Gig is heading off to the Classic Grand to see FourGoodMen as soon as possible.
Finally we made it and it turned out – that they didn`t start the Show until everyone arrived safely.
Which is another nice part of this Band ! All being so normal and kind !
And here part two of the evening started and - may I say – was even more than perfect to me !
At the Venue – most of the Community Members finally met up again. I met Sandra ( Fun) and Vicky and a few more from the FourGoodMen-Forum – was real fun !
FourGoodMen started to play and from the first second I was fascinated – they are just great.
And so nice ! During the first couple of songs they used sort of a Fog-Machine – and I couldn`t get proper pics of all while performing – so after trying to get a good pic of Smiley a few times – I shouted while they did a short break: “ Smiley – can you please give me a smile ? “. All had a good laugh at that and ( pics will prove it ) Ian stepped aside – letting me shoot my pic and Smiley even stood up for me – that was sooooo nice ! Thanks Guys for that. I felt so honored ! The pics turned out to be a bit foggy ( bloody Fog Machine *lol* ) but you still can see what I’ve written above and soon I was able to even get some better pics. Watch my myspace for them !
They did a great Show “ Kiss Cool “ and “ Dream to Sleep “ two of my favs. and some great Bowie Songs as well. “ Heart of Wonder “ was another highlight !
The Show was over all too soon – and we kept on dancing and chatting – just having fun.
Then they all came back to join our Party for a little while – one after one – letting us shoot pics and giving autographs and hugs and even did some chatting.
Ian – thanks for the autograph and pic and making me feel welcome, remembered and special. Smiley – you are a cutie – thanks for the hug and the pics and the autograph. Derek – what can I say – thanks again for being so kind, the autograph and pics. Jane – thanks again for signing my X-mas Card last year and the autograph now !
Thanks to all of you – you have given me a very special time !
It all was sooo overwhelming – thanks to you all again for being so kind to sign the little surprise I can`t mention right now – it is posted – but didn`t arrive yet – so: pssst….. ! Wink

Inbetween the Meet and Greet there was another absolute highlight for me: Brian McGee showed up. I couldn`t believe it first and even stupidly asked him – “ are you real ? are you really Brian McGee ? “ He smiled at me – said yes – gave me an autograph and let me shoot a pic of him and Will. He even had sort of a little speech via the DJ`s Micro later on. Shame that he didn`t get so much attention as he deserved ! He`s a nice Guy !
When we were on our way out of the Venue I even got a Setlist – thanks Andrea !!!

Tired – cause I didn`t sleep the two nights before – I went back to my Hostel. I was so lucky and still so excited – I couldn`t find any sleep.

Next morning ( same day actually *lol* ) Shirl, Keith, Andrea, Jim and I met up for Breakfast at the “ Crystal Palace “ – all being tired ( I still didn`t sleep at all ) and had a another nice time. At the same Venue all the others from the Community who were booked at the Jury`s had Breakfast too. We had a quick hello and a little chat – and all too soon most of them were leaving – heading home or to the next Venue ( Simple Minds Fans seem to travel the World *smile* )

All too soon it was time to say goodbye to Shirl and Keith – as for they went on to make their way to the next Simple Minds Gig ! And – embarrassingly - saying goodbye to them got me in tears – because both of them are so special to me.

After that I did some walking round the Town again and then spontaneously had a day off with Darryn – we did some Sightseeing, went to the Gallery of Modern Arts – had a nice Cappuccino and chat. Then there was sort of a Community Dinner planned – and we met up with all the Members that were still left at the Jury`s – just to find out that there wasn`t a big Dinner planned…… Let`s leave it with that – there was sort of an argument – I am still not sure what has happened – and Darryn and I went off to have some Dinner – which turned out to be a very nice Idea actually.
While waiting in the Foyer to get ready for Dinner – I finally had the pleasure to meet Bruce – which I was hoping for. There wasn`t enough time to chat properly – so I made a pic and left it with that for this time.
Hopefully all goes well and I will be there on the 28th – and maybe there`s a bit more time to chat to everyone !

I tried to say goodbye to Andrea and Jim – didn`t reach them via sms and Aglia did a call to their room via the Reception…. So sorry for not saying goodbye this time ! We`ll meet up very soon again *smile* !
Aglia and Elizabeth – I am really hoping we`ll meet up again some day and here comes a big hug in mind instead. Keep in touch please !
On Saturday - I made some last shopping – some last pics and walking and a final Sightseeing-Tour – and at midday I was on my way to the Airport – to travel back home….. and finally arrived at home about half past eleven our time.

I didn`t come home actually – I felt more home in Scotland – that is a feeling I have every time I`ve been up there since I was a little child.
Maybe one day my plans are working and I am able to move to Scotland – we`ll see……
The only thing that I didn`t like is to find out – that I really have to improve my English. As said before – reading and understanding works quite well – it`s just the speaking I have to improve – which is understandable – if you`re not used to speak another language all the time.
I`ll work on it !

All in all – I had the time of my life – thanks again to all of you !!!
