Great news. We supported them a la John Foxx days, and I am a great mate of Billy Currie, he even came to our wedding. More name dropping Murray...oops..

Would be great if they did, Billy Currie is another influence of mine.
Reading Midge Ure's autobiography it read there was a cat in hells chance, but I guess if the Police can reform any band could.
cheers

Hopefully it's not Ultravox with Midge. Nice man , but compared to Ultravox with John Foxx...sorry Archie Andrews, but you know it's true...Hiroshima mon amour...classic..

what an interesting comment , derek !
( only fyi : i'm much more a foxx than a ure fan , but would love to see any of them front the full band line-up then ! )
afaik , it will be midge , chris & billy only ... but sadly no warren , so they should have the decency to only call themselves "u-vox" - like their last & definitely worst album !
would i go to see them play live again ?
yes , of course ... but only if they come to germany or close to it , as the u.k. is definitely too expensive for me these days , sorry fellows !
my indeed hard earned two cents of the faqin' euro ... _________________ >> http://www.myspace.com/ohjay_de << |

Saw them in Tiffanys in 1980 with Midge, met them all after and they were great apart from Midge who was,to say the least, a trunped up little w***er when I asked him for his autograph
Don't think John would even consider resurrecting the band Derek, but next time he's in town I'll give you a shout!!
John and Louis Gordon are great live _________________ Hyde |

Seen Ultravox three times in the early 80s.. Edinburgh in December 1980 and twice in Liverpool in September/October 1981. Excellent live, and the two albums that were promoted on those tours are among my favourites, Vienna and Rage In Eden. However, I also like a lot of their earlier stuff. Great to eventually see John Foxx live with Louis Gordon the other year at King Tuts. Hopefully I'll get to see Ultravox live again = it's looking promising |

Furry Fanndabedosy Lady,
Midge wasn't in Ultravox till well after they were established, and his brothers name was Mr. Ure....

Never saw Ultravox. Only really noticed them post-Foxx.
I wasn't that massive a fan either of them, but didn't find them offensive either. Well produced videos. Dancing With Tear In My Eyes was a pretty striking song. And the stop in the Love's Great Adventure video, for Midge Ure to catch his breath, was a nice touch.
I recall reading an article with Billy Currie around 81-82-83-84 where he said he was often mistaken for Jim Kerr. If I remember correctly, at the time there WAS a striking similarity between the two.
Bring back Rick Astley I say!!!

Forgot about that one. It was a very nice track indeed.

Saw The Undertones in Tiffanys in around 1983. They were all a lovely bunch of friendly guys, except that we tosspot called Feargal Sharkey. He was ALSO a trumped up little wanker!
Saw them again in Amsterdam's Melkweg (Milky Way) a couple of years ago, with a new (better) singer. They were MAGIC! I pogoed my nut off all night front of stage. _________________ BITE ME! |

If I can find the 'Vienna' video , which was shot by Virgin A&R man Ross Stapleton, during the recording of New Gold Dream 81 82 83 84, in Newburgh ,Fife, Scotland, then I will post it on my friend Frank Hafferson's Youtube site. I play Midge, and Jim Kerr was meant to play Billy Currie on the keyboards, but laughter got the better of him. I sing,(mime), Vienna, with Mick, Charlie, Jim and Mike Ogletree sitting around my feet...it's hilarious. Midge knows about it. It was shown once at the Niteclub in Edinburgh. I will ask James to copy it onto dvd for the World to enjoy. It is legendary...or is now..!!!!!
