In the words of GEORGE HARRISON..' it's been a long, long, long time'. I hope all you FOURGOODMEN people are well and fighting fit. A few bouts of cold and flu, and I'm up and running, and raring to go....on with the show...this is it!!!
We have a couple of 'Live shows' coming up in May and June,
Featuring the new (and old), line up.
Firstly, on May the 10th, we have the DARVEL MUSIC FESTIVAL in Ayrshire.
Darvel 'Homecoming' Music Festival
Sunday 10th May 2009
Darvel Town Hall/Ayrshire
Doors 7pm
Tickets £15
FourGoodMen with special guests, JJ Gilmour, Boo Hewerdine and the Garrett Wall Band
See www.darvelmusicfestival.org for ticket outlets - on sale 27 Feb 2009
Secondly on the 13th of June, we have BACK TO THE EIGHTIES, at Braehead Arena.
http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/eve...majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=1
Both gigs will feature OWEN PAUL, as our very special guest singer. OWEN is the younger brother of none other than BRIAN McGEE of SIMPLE MINDS and PROPAGANDA fame. OWEN was there when the MINDS started, (at his Mother's house in Glasgow), and is totally familiar with our repertoire, so we are looking forward to, what promises to be, two fantastic shows.
FOURGOODMEN will consist of myself, SMILEY, FRANK, CARRIE, VONNIE and OWEN, and a mystery keyboard player. GRAEME DUFFIN has also 'put his hat in the ring' for a surprise return to the proceedings.
Talking of GRAEME DUFFIN, I will be travelling out to NORWAY with GRAEME and his very talented daughter,ESTHER O'CONNOR, where we will play with Norwegian Star KATO onstage to mark the release of his new album. I can't wait for that.
But Before that myself and Smiley will be on tour with
LOS MONDO BONGO
Press release:-
Joe Strummer together with Pablo Cook formed The Mescaleros in the late 90's.
Pablo Cook and Joe Strummer co-wrote the band's debut single Yalla Yalla, the debut album "Rock, Art and the X-ray Style" which was produced by Antony Genn was released to much praise from media and fans alike being described in one journo as "Sandinista's worthy successor."
With the band now taking shape including Smiley on drums they toured UK, Europe, U.S.A, Japan, Australia, New Zealand playing to packed out audiences a rich mixture of Joe's new world music and great Clash classics.
"The Mescaleros are playing like they've got a gun to their collective heads - guitars like artillery fire, drums like a creeping barrage: this is combat rock. A blistering assault of musical napalm levelling everything in its path."
Uncut magazine.
They also supported The Who on their UK Tour, where they played the new tracks which were to form perhaps their finest work: the 2nd album "Global A Go-Go." whose tracks including "Mondo Bongo" "Johnny Appleseed" & "Minstrel Boy" have featured in both top box-office films and major U.S TV shows including, Mr & Mrs Smith, Black Hawk Down, John from Cincinnati
The band continued their extensive world touring and just as work was to start on their 3rd album, Joe Strummer sadly passed away in December 2002 aged just 50.
A legend to a whole generation across the world had died, but that same generation and now other younger generations want again to hear that great music that got Joe back on stage and making great albums after nearly a decade away.
To celebrate the music of Joe Strummer Mescaleros Pablo Cook and Smiley, together with Simple Mind's Derek Forbes the Voice of the Alarm, Mike Peters plus Steve Harris (Gary Numan) and Pascal Smith are due to hit Canada in March after several gigs in Europe and planned tours of South America later in 2009.
Playing The Mescaleros greats & the extensive back catalogue of Clash Classics will once more ensure the name Joe Strummer lives on.
Also special guests, Ray Gange (Rude Boy/The Clash movie) as DJ & Pat Gilbert (Passion is a Fashion: The Real Story of The Clash)

At last, you can get your hands on to Ian's 'FAITH' Album with H20. I personally wish IAN all the success with it, and urge you all to purchase a copy or two.
This is the first time FAITH has appeared on CD.

Ello Shirlo! Yes, everything is fine n' dandy - cheers! How's the Gibson clan these days? Are u still clocking up those miles, missus? Not long until Ultravox hit the road so if a dint see yer then, al see yer at some point this year.
Back to 4GM - so we're up and runnin' again eh Degsworth? Oh, and can you tell that Mr Newall that his legs don't look too white, as his rather rude text suggested |

For clarification - incase it's needed - I think the Moscow that you're referring to here isn't the one that has Red Square and The Kremlin, but a wee Ayrshire hamlet of about 5 or 6 houses that actually has a River Volga running through it (FACT!) and sits about 4 miles up the road from the Ayrshire town of Galston.

We're all fine and dandy thanks, and hoping to pay South Shields a return visit some time this summer (will keep you posted on that one). Still clocking up the miles, though admittedly not quite as many as last year (though that will take a hammering when I venture to Germany in June!!) May just catch up with you if come to Manchester for the Ultravox gig - not got a ticket but might join up with the usual suspects for a drink or two anyway..
Back to 4GM - as I said earlier great to see the forum up and running again. Most of us managed to keep in touch via Facebook and MSN etc, so there was never too much of a separation on our parts in the fanbase. Still as Dorothy said in The Wizard Of Oz, "There's no place like home".
