Hi from BelgiumI thought that after all that time lurking around, it was time to sign up and introduce myself (for the people who don't know me yet ).
I'm Lore, 23 and I live in Brussels. My first Simple Minds experience was in '98, when I saw them supporting the Stones in Werchter... and now, so many years later: here we are!
And please, don't believe the rumours: I'm a quiet and shy girl, really

hello again Lore,
I played that gig with Simple Minds at Werchter with the Rolling Stones, in fact, I was just telling our tour manager James that I had found my official pass from that gig. I don't know if you were there on the first or second day, because Jim jumped into the air during Waterfront and split the arse of his trousers, and as he is a man bereft of knickers, the sight was what I could only liken to, a Black Forest Gateaux struggling fiercely for freedom from his trousers.Great days. Pity the Stones had the huge screens on at the time. Ach well, we can all be Bare Arse Hackenabush from time to time, just ask James when he shares a room with Ian.

Hi Lore,
Welcome to the 4GM board.
Not sure if you remember, but we chatted in the Chatroom a while ago.
I've been wondering.....did you end up getting tickets to see Paul Weller in London?

How could I forget to mention such an important detail: the splitting of the trousers! You would have thought that after that, he'd have learned to wear knickers, but NO . I'll never look at a Black Forest Gateau with the same eyes again LMAO.
Hi again Dakota & FFL! I was just about to become a member of the ICA (for 35 quid) when the gig was canceled for some unknown reason ... so it seems I'll be coming over sometime in November/December when he'll be touring the UK. Wait and see.

Hey Dakota,
Paul Weller's incredible live... well, if he hasn't been drinking too much 'cause otherwise he can be a bit moody, but he's always nice to me . If you're interested, I can upload his performance of last years BBC Electric Proms; just PM me your e-mail addy!
Glad you love Goose, they're a lovely bunch. Apparantly they're becoming a bit of an underground hype in the UK; I actually think they're in Australia at the moment . British Mode is one of those songs that grabs you by the throat and only lets go at the final note: lurv it!
See ya,
Lore x
PS: also check out Black Daniel. Lovely guys, great live, a lot of fun and not the typical indie sound.

What a sleuth you are ....I had no idea!! But after some research I discovered they arrive later this month, although they're only playing the Parklife Festivals ..... "You will hear a wide variety of electro, hip hop, house, breaks, beats, turntablism and more......10 hours, 4 stages, 30+ acts". To be honest, that sounds like a day in hell for me, but I must be in the minority as it sold out ages ago! Pity, I'd love to see Goose, but without the other 29 acts!
And I love your description of British Mode....perfect!
Thanks Lore.....will PM you now

I don't know what it is but I think that I always look that enthusiastic that no matter what kind of grumpy mood he's in, he's always nice to me. The problem is that - especially in comparison to the UK - the audience is very calm and polite at the PW gigs here in Belgium, which can easily be mistaken for uninterested .
The first time I saw him was at a festival, where most people in the front few rows were already queuing for The Prodigy (or something similar), so he didn't get that much attention - apart from me hopping along screaming my head off, which must have looked extremely silly, but at the end of the gig he gave me a little wave and a smile (which made my weekend back then LOL).
A couple of months later, I saw him in a club for the first time; and at the end of the gig he gave me his plectrum.
The next gig was an accoustic seated one, my least favourite performance of him by far: the mood was very subdued and everyone kept seated, untill the encore when a women in the second row stood up... so I took that as my cue to stand up aswell, and I was joined by the two men sitting alongside of me, but apparantly we were the odd exceptions. A security guy approached the woman nearer to the front (we were more to the side) and started arguing with her, apparantly she was ordered to sit down and arguing that it was the encore didn't help; after a minute or two she sat down again... and we got a menacing look from the security guy who motioned us to sit down aswell so - me being a bit quieter in those days LOL - we did as we were ordered. However, everything back fired for the sec guy as herr Weller had been following the whole thing from the stage, was thoroughly disgusted with what had happened, finished off his song and stormed off... but not before waving at the woman in front and us (as if to thank us for at least trying to get some ambiance in the joint LOL). Afterwards, one of the roadies offered me a drink saying 'bet you can use it after all that shit', and I found out that PW doesn't drink red wine on stage (which I had always thought) but port, and I got the final swig of the bottle that had full at the start of the gig and some other goodies of the stage .
Nothing really special happened at the next couple of gigs - did meet the two Steves which was very nice; but at the last gig he really surprised me! He was headlining a local festival, but the crowd didn't really get into it. However from the start, I felt as if this was the best I've seen him play so I was over the moon (being there from 6pm to get a spot on the front row had been worth it LMAO): couldn't stop sing along and clapping constantly (my right hand was full of blisters thr next day LOL); during one of the less familiar songs the people around me started clapping along aswell, and before you knew it our half of the audience was well into it. So the song finishes and Weller says: "I'd like to take this time to thank my best Belgian hand - clapper". I was so shocked I didn't hear what followed, but apparantly according to the people next to me, it was "This one's for you, love". Ah, the memories...
Uploading the gig for you now...
