Job Offer - moving to Scotland Feb. 2010Hi @ all !!!Yes - I know - I already posted this on ssm.com and my myspace - and please believe me - I don`t want to show off - it`s just to express my excitement and my open-hearted temper !!! I have to share some very great news with you: I got a Job Offer near Glasgow. And I still so can..t believe it. ( as some of you already might now - this is a dream coming true for me ). You know - my Aunty ( she passed away last year ) used to work at this Company. She always told me to send my CV etc. to them. I didn..t - I simply was too scared of not beeing good enough..... In December - when I visited my Aunty..s Friends - I finally did it and left my CV there. Over here we have sort of a Website for Jobs abroad - and I did apply for Jobs every now and then - mostly they didn..t even reply or sent my Papers back - saying they have no Jobs, or even - that I am too old ( ??? ) - having a young team or things like that. Some of them didn..t like that I have my own little Business atm. ( Maybe I..m too bossy for them ??? ).... No way actually. Oh - and the worst reply so far was one Company really asking me - beeing an Office Administration Clerk - why do I have to do those cleaning Jobs as well ( second Job ). I didn..t bother to answer...... - ( just because moving to Scotland is expensive, I..ll need some starting money and a little Flat, etc. - oh - and translating all my Papers for the CV wasn..t cheap at all...... because you have to certify all Documents - if they have been translated in another Language over here )..... - ( not speaking about Holidays and Concerts....*smile* ! ) And I didn..t really expect an answer this time ! But yesterday when I came back home from work - I found a big envelope with a Pre-Contract, the Companys Papers and Instructions and an invitation to visit them again and have a good look around. Included - ( and important for me ! ) - is also an English-Crash-Training for new Members of the Company. I..ll start - ( if I say yes that is ) - next February. That gives me time to move up there, ( January 2010 ), get the English-Lessons started and - most important ! - sort everything out over here. The Job would be at the Back-Office at a Company near Glasgow. According to the " Homecoming Scotland Campaign " - I hasten to add - I..d take no Job from any Great Britain Member - it is a German - who owns this Job atm and she will retire by the end of the Year ! Although this is sort of a homecoming for me too - ( as you might already know ). For the first couple of months I can live with my family..s friends - even until ( 6 Months ) I got over my trial period and search for a good and cheap Flat with no hurry. I sometimes was giving up hope to get my dream true - now it really seams to come true. I am still sort of speechless - years over years nothing happened at all - and now all is happening so fast.... ! And - I really hope you are with me - and maybe you can give me some advice ??? There..s so much I still have to learn - so many questions spring up to mind atm. - I can..t write them all down right now. Anyway - I just wanted to share my excitement with you ! And ask for every serious advice you might be willing to pass over to me ! Although it is not that easy at all - saying goodbye to friends and a nice little Job ( s ) by the end of the year....... I am really looking forward to the next few months - there..s so much to organise, to think about - and there are still already planned holidays and Concerts and things - this is just great and I really can..t express my feelings - it..s like jumping, laughing and crying all at the same time. Wouw this is amazing Kerstin, I can imagine you having lots of diferent feelings right now and it must be scarred but just think about next year and living in SCOTLAND  .
I am a wee bit jealous (in a very good way  ).

this really looks like the "once in a lifetime" chance , so i would take it , as u still have a lot of time before u start over there with your new job & everything else ! 
take this year to sort everything out & then start anew in good ol' scotland - yeah !

Good news indeed!
I was intending doing my own personal "Homecoming" later this year, as I have a house in Darvel (about 40kms) from Glasgow. However, given the current economic situation in Scotland, I've had to put those plans on ice until the storm blows over. As for the people of Glasgow and the West Coast, they are the most welcoming people in Scotland. Warm, humourous, personable, genuine and you know where you stand with them. If you speak English as fluently as you type it, English/Scottish lessons will be a breeze.
If you haven't seen this before, this is an 'official' Visitor's Guide To Scotland ... but don't let it put you off!

@ Dream attack - thanks for the compliment. Yes, writing and reading is no problem at all - while the speaking is a bit more complicated - it always takes a few days breaking the inner blockage..... but I definately see no problem there - give me two weeks and it will improve ! ( hopefully *lol* )
@ Shirl - yes - we`ll definately have fun in GLA and for me it is also the opportunity to start searching for a flat and get things moved. A big help actually was Gordon ( Hostel ) - he gave me some hints about Rents and what to do best. Oh and I did start those " Discussion Lessons hold in English " we`ve been talking about ! First Lesson is this evening ! @ Loretta and Sandra - looking forward to see you again ! 3 weeks and a few days to go - next holidays in sight *yippey*

Hi Kerstin Hopefully all is going well with the English lessons. I am going to get in touch with Doug and his wife (another Kerstin) to see if they can meet up with us on 17 July.. who knows they may be able to come with us to the Ferry?!?
