This is worrying news. Hopefully Malcolm will make a full recovery. He is an amazing musician, and is as much part of the Runrig force as anyone imo. It has been some while since I last saw the band live, though I did catch former singer Donnie Munro at the Lomond Folk Festival last year.

Pass!

I saw them a few times years back in Aberdeen, as I used to hire our PA Gear off their manageress, Marlene, so used to get guest listings.

All I recall was rousing Gaelic Rock Music, whilst surrounded by Aberdeen University students ALL from the Western Isles/Sheep Abuser regions!

Marlene was a lovely lady, sadly missed. Mark (my hubby) and I met through the Runrig Fan Club, and quite a lot of their music was used in our wedding service. Thankfully the church organist and the minister were both fans themselves, so were quite accommodating, and even used some of the song titles into the service itself!! We spent our honeymoon in the Western Isles, taking in Barra, the Uists and Skye (travelling via Glasgow).

Marlene is dead?  I didn't know that.

She had a granite exterior and a heart of gold.  It must have been 23(?) years ago that I last stepped into Abbotsford Acoustics on King Street in Aberdeen, when she and Graham were still together.

Sadly she died a few years ago after a short battle against cancer. I remember reading the news on the Runrig website. I can't remember when I last spoke to her, but it was some years ago..  Crying or Very sad

Marlene had one of the foulest mouths I've ever experienced, but trust me, she had a pure heart of gold behind the larger-than-life persona.

She did indeed  Smile
