I recently watched the live in newcastle city hall-video that's part of the simple mind's seen the lights dvd set, and I was wondering what kind of flanger of phaser you were using on your bass then?

Hey Barend,
great to hear from you. That is an MXR Flanger that I still use to this day. In fact the Speakers I use are the exact same ones I toured the World with with Simple Minds and Propaganda.

Have to go , I need to get a towel for my youngest son...family life eh???

Ah the mystery resolved! Is it a rackmount or a pedal? When will fourgoodmen be touring in holland? Do you still use the p-bass and the fretless one?

Yup I'm fretlessfx, and you?
dforbes

Yes Barend,
I still use the Precisions I have, but live I prefer to use Vigier basses. Thay are my favourite. Vigier are building me a new fretless for the American/Canadian tour. I can't wait to get my hands on it. The MXR is a pedal mounted inside a Black box that my ,(then ) Boffin Roadie, Big Dougie from Space, the man with Angel long hair, apparently, for Simple Minds built me. Does that make sense???

Makes sense to me! is Vigier somewhat comparable to wal? Always loved the sound of wal fretless basses. Mick Karn had one, and The Dutch (a band from the netherlands believe it or not) also had one in the 80s. The sound on sweat in the bullet is a p fretless? Is the single version a re-recorded version btw? The sound is much more transparent than on sons and fascination.

to me it just sounds like a different mix with the added cowbell/woodblock or whatever it is.

derek, be sure to post some pics of the new vigier on your blog for us bass nerds Very Happy

Will do, the mix is just different, not re recorded.
Wal basses are totally unique, whereas Vigier have such a wide variety of options. The Nautilus I have is like something out of a Ray Bradbury novel. Very Space Age for it's time. I used it on ' Don't You ' and ' New England '. I'd recommend Vigier to everyone, not just to anyone...
