RetrofestI watched my cousin's band last night with another three cousins and one of their kids.
Onstage was Ian Corson, aka Jock, aka Captain John McLean Corson, aka Hans Kurzen....so many names for the one person,,,a bit like myself
I watched him perform with Eddie Houston, ( wonderful singer and guitar player).
I stood with Lesley Corson and her daughter Lauren, Shelagh Corson and Angela McLean. it was a magic moment to see so many of the family supporting the man who inspired me, (along with Lesley, it has to be said). I could almost hear the strains of 'Monkberry Moon Delight' haunting me from Brockburn Road in Pollok...
Eddie Houston was a huge influence on my guitar playing, especially my love for Rory Galagher Live in Europe....'Messin' with the Kid'...
Jock/Hans could have easily been a professional bass player, he is so natural at it. Instead he joined the Luftwaffe or something and 'Bader(ed) it up to reach for the skies instead...not a waste, just a different flight path.
Well they certainly entertained me, and , thanks Eddie for the Pint on the back of the guitar routine...that brought back great memories of your huge talent in Creed at the Burns Howff..( Eddie went on to play with Scots band 'Pilot'). Hans and Eddie have been asked to appear on the Mainstage at Retrofest next year, so the whole weekend was a huge success for them...brilliant Don't miss them
Anyway...enough of my yakkin'

Many thanks for your kind words Derek.I really appreciate them.It was a bit daunting for me to play my first gig since 1985,but I'm getting over it and looking forward to the next one.
Maybe we'll do a double bass line sometime on one of our shows.
A big thanks also to everyone who supported us,especially Sandra FFL who got us the gig in the first place.
I'm off to Fair Isle now.Back Friday.
All the best and thanks again,,,,,,,,,,Jock

Hi Derek
I couldn't agree more they were fab
Both Eddie and Hans were great guitartists. It was the first time I had seen them play and I was well impressed
It was great to see Eddie's beer trick I've never seen that before
Hans was a wee natural on the bass and I can't wait to see them on the BIG STAGE next year
I would like to see a bass double up
ROCK-N-ROLL

Hi Derek and everyone who came out to support us on retrofest, It is very humbling to know that in those early days in the Glasgow rock scene I was inspiring a fantastic musician, and a genuinely nice person, so thank you for your kind comments Derek.
Special thanks to Hans and Kenny ( drums) who were thrown in at the deep end with only 6 weeks rehersals and a lot to learn . Sandra and friends , you are very special people and I am very gratified of your comments re: xmas gig with fourgoodmen , it would be a wondeful occasion, for myself personaly if it did happen .
Again I thank everyone who supported the band at Retrofest from the bottom of my heart, it was great to get back on stage again, and the encore from the support made all the effort worthwhile , Thanks Thanks .

I was there and I have to admit Eddie is some guitar player, totally taken back, and as Derek said Hans is a natural great bass player
I really enjoyed them.
Good Luck in all future ventures

Apologies to everyone for not making it to see you all last Friday....
I'm at the mercy of a soon-to-be-ex, who has zero regard for childcare arrangements and who keeps changing plans at the very last minute
I will see you all in December without a doubt.
Has been a crap summer (or at least it was until I pulled myself back together again)
I'm now back to being me again and life is about a million times better.
Really looking forward to seeing you all again
