Laughing Dakota, the buggers will probably have a splitting headache when waking up from all the partying last night...lucky B's Wink Laughing .

Well in one hours time I am off to Amsterdam to see Genesis so hopefully when I get back around midnight there will be something on here Wink Cool .
Pamie

What a brilliant gig!

The weather was awful. The crowd was interesting but the band were amazing.

Had a thoroughly excellent night (even if I was driving)

Lovely to meet everyone Cool

Hello.....
Setlist, review and pics please!

Jean Genie

Shirl's still in recovery mode too.. I'll post an informal journal later of my weekend complete with setlist (Thanks Ian!!)

Pamie.. It was great to meet up with you. Great you recognised me from the Kieran Docherty gig.. mind you, some would say that I'm never forgotten.. !!

Thanks have to go to the drink buying arrangement at Knockhill for getting us all well and truly sorted with copious amounts of lager.. £10 for 8 bottles has got to be the bargain of the week.. Especially when we are talking about Buds and Becks!!
Pamie

Some of us were on water Rolling Eyes
Jean Genie

Don't worry, Pamie.. we'll make up for that one next time, when we meet up in Glasgow.. Wink

Tabs and Billy picked me up just after 11 on Saturday morning, from my friend's house near Newcastle. We arrived at Achmed's about 3 hours later. It wasn't long before we were being treated to a mini practice session in the conservatory.. Love Song and Waterfront clips were welcomed and there was the odd blast of an Ultravox classic to boot. The tinnies and JD were soon sorted and the pizzas quickly followed. (I hasten to add here that Tabs was very good at this point and was sticking to his one bevvy only limit as our driver.. though this was to be rectified later at the gig itself, as we had a taxi booked for the trip back.)

Finding the hospitality tent at the site was a bit of laugh.. All these gates for different passes, and those without passes?? Phone call to James sorted us out in the right direction, and it wasn't too long before we found the correct tent. Finding adequate loos was a bit of an issue.. What's this?? One portaloo up a little hill.. yes that suited Shirl fine.. esp with an ankle that doesn't like hills or uneven ground!!

Good to bump into James soon after arriving, and had a welcome chinwag. Others weren't too long behind, and it was good to meet Chris Bell and discuss Westworld and Spear in general. The drinks buying arrangement worked well and was cheap. We bought passes. A pass cost £6 for one, or £10 for two. Each pass entitled you to four drinks. Not bad at all considering some of those included Becks, Buds and Smirnoffs.

The soundcheck went well. Quite a few people were watching the band as they sheltered from the weather, and applauded after Heart Of Wonder. This showed good signs for the evening, especially as this was a 4GM original and would have probably been the first time they had heard it.

The band were on their usual form for the gig itself. More folk came in as the set continued, although the place wasn't exactly empty when they started. There was plenty of dancing and drinking, and just a great buzz. Highlight of the night for me was Heart Of Wonder/In A Big Country, though there wasn't a weak moment in the whole set...and meeting Pamie and her friend (sorry I can't remember her name) again. Let's hope we get to see Kieran again too, eh?? Wink

I've got to take this opportunity to thank Tabs and Billy for the lift north of the border, and for Achmed's hospitality. Without you guys I wouldn't have got to this gig, and as it's the only Scottish 4GM gig I was getting to this summer I am especially grateful.

All I can say is Roll on Rotherham - It can't come soon enough.. Very Happy Hopefully we'll catch all the usual suspects there too.. It wouldn't be the same without you!!
Willemina

Thanks Shirl, this is a great read, glad you all had such a brilliant time .....not that I expected anything else Wink .
Jean Genie

You know Willemina.. I've got to apologise. I've just re-read the review and noted that I didn't mention what a good job Graeme did on lead guitar. Hopefully he'll be there at Rotherham.. Can anyone confirm this??

Thanks Shirl, yeah he is such a amazing guitarist.

Graeme told me that he is doing Barra with 4GM but as far as I know not Rotherham.
The Wets are doing a gig 17th of august and the Wets new single and Album will be coming out somewere after august so maybe he will be to busy with that and promotion.
Graeme usually keeps me well informed about what he is doing so if I hear anything I will give a shout Wink .
Jean Genie

Thanks Willemina.. Whoever it is, I'm sure it will be a brilliant night Smile
Edith

Great review! Thanks!
Nice setlist too.

Anybody with a big purse able to buy me tickets and flight for Rotherham?? I want to be there too!! I miss this so much! Crying or Very sad
