Scottish Rock And Pop Gig, East Kilbride Circa August 1984

Can anyone out here recall this open-air gig?

I attended and was back stage during the day, where I met, amongst others, Ian Donaldson (H2O were playing) - he was/is a top guy!  John McGeoch (as The Armoury Show headlined?  Please correct me if I'm wrong.) - now he was pure genius, but unfortunately now, VERY sadly, a  pure Dead genius.  I also met, for the first time, Richard Jobson (fronting the Armoury Show) and Chic Medley (Fiction Factory)  ... where's the wanker emoticon when you need to use it twice?!

I recall The Bluebells (featuring Clark Gable look-a-like Bobby Valentino on fiddle) played, and also, if I remember correctly, Strawberry Switchblade.

At the back of my mind, I also have a recollection that Friends Again played too.

Can anyone recall the full roster, as a Google search drew a blank.

Really? I remember the Bluebells playing, with Bobby Valentino really taking the fore during "Young At Heart", but was almost positive that The Armoury Show headlined.  I did catch a pair of knickers from the backstage arena during the day however.  Still got them actually.  Marks and Spencers white cotton granny panties, with a random brown and yellow pattern that I've never seen before ... do you lay claim to them?

Whatever happened to the Bluebells, Del Boy?

The two brothers, I can't recall the surname, went onto another musical project, if I remember correctly.

But Robert Hodges (Bobby Bluebell), what ever happened to him.?

They had to have him incarcerated for supreme ugliness. The names you are striving for was the McCluskey brothers . Ken and  Vimto...

The Bluebells were playing live in my neck of the woods a year or so back. Not much to report I'm afraid. Not a great deal of stage presence these days - it looked like they'd been clinically dead for the last 10 years!!!

Regarding the ugliness - aye, when the lead singer was born the midwife never slapped his bum - she slapped his fatha!!! Laughing  Laughing  Laughing
