Strangest Band Names?Maybe a wee snail trail will follow this OriginalPost ... What are the strangest band names you know of?
Two of the best/strangest I can think of are ...
Sheep On Drugs and You've Got Foetus On Your Breath.
Mind you this thread is coming from a man who played bass with the Anal Fleas, as well as James Dean and The Rent Boys (I WAS James Dean, I'll hastily add - hiding my Barbra Streisand/Shirley Bassey/Gloria Gaynor collection, as I type!)

Two from legendary singer Roy White of White and Torch, were 'Piggy Garfield and the Flys Round Uranus' and 'Black Arse'....I kid you not. My favourite was 'Crispy Ambulance', with which, my mother,( who was just admitted into hospital today, and is comfortable at the moment), used in an Evening Times quiz of the same nature, and she won first prize.....God knows what the prize was, but there ye go...

Hope your mum is soon on the mend Derek..
Not a strange name but one of my favourites.. when I lived in Edinburgh, I remember seeing Kenny Hyslop play at Eric Browns (Dalry Road) in a duo. They were called Call Me Irresponsible.. they had a tape machine known as A Chemistry Set.. Hence the full name Call Me Irresponsible With A Chemistry Set..

When I lived in Aberdeen, I worked quite closely in the formation of a band, later to be called "Grey By The Gun".
The lead singer and guitarist was a black guy called John Swinton. He was at the time studying Divinity at University - a VERY talented guy indeed. His suggestion for the band's name was "The Reverend John & The White Boys". I kind of liked the name, but the rest of the guys were unimpressed.

@ derek : i hope your mom gets well soon again !
concerning the strangest names , i could actually add a few more that james g. thirlwell used under his "foetus" moniker , but they are all not very "tasty" - so to say !
anyway ... GAY BIKERS ON ACID / LESBIAN DOPEHEADS ON MOPEDS are certainly unmatched until today !
WE'VE GOT A FUZZBOX & WE'RE GONNA USE IT were also quite cool ... & i openly admit that i always liked them !
there are many more , but that's all i could think of right now , so ... next one , please !

I recall a way I used to put band's names into perspective as to the 'real' impact of the name was always to draw up the following 'equation'.
Ask the question. "Who are you going to see at [insert name of local venue] tonight?"
Reply "{enter band's name]".
The one I ALWAYS wanted to use, as a band's name, was Who Cares?

Wasn't the German industrial band SPK, from the mid 80's, not an abbreviation of Surgical Penis Klinik?
