The pain of seperation.

I recall about 24(?) years ago receiving a call from Gerry McElhone (Brother of Johnny McElhone and manager of Altered Images/ Hipsway/Texas/ Gun, etc., etc.) that Altered Images had split up.  Well, I went through a form of grieving at the time (Gerry had selected me to head up the Images fan club).

However, the split led to Hipsway and Texas (no bad thing!).  Clare and Stephen went to London, where he embarked on a successful producing role, whilst Clare ended up in Eastenders(!), Tony McDaid filled a role in A&R and ... they all moved on.

Whatever happens with bands we love, respect and/or follow ... success, through thick and thin, will culminate.

It's great to have you onboard Murray. I really like Gerry and Johnny and the rest of the gang. Good people..

It's years since I saw them, Derek (Hipsway gig in Aberdeen in 1987(?)), but they were always two genuine guys, as were their sisters and mother, Helen.  Never met their dad, Frank.

Anyway, you know they grew up just up the hill from Chateau de Lait, don't you?  And about 200 metres from where Burchill bought his folk's a place.

Yes Murray

I played for Liverpool Boys Club. We trained in the Gorbals, and our home park was Fleshers Haugh , Glasgow Green, ( the site of Rangers FC's first game against Callander Thistle, who, incidentally, my youngest son plays for, and I was a coach). You could see the name Frank McElhone, plastered all over the walls and shop windows, as he was a labour councillor in those days, and that was obviously his constituency in the sixties. How do you like them apples?

Happy Birthday you know who.........

Errr???  Confused

If I remember correctly Frank McElhone became MP for King's Park (or was it Queen's Park?).  After his death, his wife Helen, ran for election and took over Frank's place as MP for the area.

I can even recall the registration plate of her White Volvo 360 at the time, A717 PUS, how fecking sad is that?! Wink  I post that info ONLY in the knowledge that 25 years on that, car will have been recycled in the great steel crusher in the sky, by the way.
