Useful facts I've learned today...

Under the motto 'you're never too old to learn', these are the useful facts I've learned today:

* Taking half a day off from work to assemble an IKEA 'wardrobe' is not enough!

* Shouting might help to prevent your computer from crashing (yes, I admit to talking to my pc, he even has a name LOL), but it won't help you figure out just where that last metallic beam is supposed to go. Nor will kicking said metallic beam, make it fit between the two provided holes (which are obviously too small to begin with)

* If the manual says "repeat 5 times" and you've done it right the first time, that doesn't mean something can't go seriously wrong the next 4 times Mad

* It is not advisable to put on an album you've just bought and put it on repeat while assembling IKEA furniture: after listening to Mark Ronson's Versions 6 times back to back, I no longer associate the lovely songs with a sense of ultimate well being and relaxation (like I did yesterday). Instead: L.S.F. makes me think about the quarter of an hour it took me to figure out how I had to hold up the piece of fabric that I had to adjust; Just will only stick with me now because of the line "You Do It To Yourself" and the point where I was cursing myself into oblivion; and I won't go into what Apply Some Pressure made me think when it chimed out of my boxes... suffice to say that force doesn't solve everything .

* Maybe it's true what I've heard some women say: sometimes having a man around the house can be helpful and not just a nuisance Razz

* You should be very suspicious instead of relieved when the packaging says that you don't need any tools to assemble this piece of furniture.

* I am totally convinced now that it can be scientifically proven that people who've lived the majority of their lives in IKEA furniture have a hightened chance of dying from stress related diseases (or at least run the risk of high blood pressure).

* Don't ever think you've done a great bargain when you buy something at IKEA for just 29,95 euros... what they forget to mention is that you shorten your life expectancy with half a year while assembling it *grrr*

* I've succesfully assembled a bookcase, a sofa, a desk, a bed, two tables; but in the end this little bugger almost meant the end of me:

I know: shameful!

Shocked you listened to Mark Ronson more than once Shocked Shocked
it's a hard enough listen on it's own without trying to put furniture together to it, i heard it was going to be called-
'Mark Ronson's how to murder songs and get away with it'
totally killed a great smiths track Sad Crying or Very sad

OMG - I had a good laugh at this..... living with / in IKEA Furniture myself - and once it took me more than two days to assemble my bed - which looks very beautiful now - without those IKEA fabrics in it....... after two days I called up the IKEA hotline - just to be informed - that something was wrong with one piece of the bed and I either had to help myself or get another one.......

Well - fortunately one of my friends is a Furniture Designer who helped me out.........

I tell you what - those two days of thinking that I am a very stupid person ...... took me more than half a year of my life.....

Actually, I quite like it - even though I only bought it for the versions of Valerie (with Amy Winehouse) and L.S.F. ; I can understand why people are so upset about the Smiths cover: I didn't know what I was hearing at first, but now I tend to look at it as a different song altogether, and I do like Daniel Merriweather's vocals on it.
The only shocking thing on it is the version of Pretty Green (originally by The Jam); that one really makes me cringe Shocked

The Amy 'Cokeheed' Winehouse track is quite catchy, mind you so is a dose of the auld seaside snappers!!! Shocked
