Hi Tabnab,
we have yours truly on bass, Ian on vocals, Jane on vocals, Bruce on guitar, Mick on keyboards, Smiley on drums, Carrie on pipes. We have rehearsals on Thursday night in Maryhill with our Mystery guitarist, who will be playing The Big Weekend in Galashiels, as our Brucey is off supporting the Who with his old band The Casbah Club. When we booked the gig, Bruce could have made it from Hyde Park to the 4GM gig, because of the time slot they had. Unfortunately, the time slot was moved to later on in the day, so Bruce had no chance of making it to Galashiels on time. Bruce was delighted with his replacement, and really rates this guy. He is from another Huge Scottish band, who are personal friends of mine personally in the personal sense. Personally I think they are s

Looking forward to the gig even more as it approaches.
It's Saturday 13:05 and quite hot and sunny here in Gods Country, hoping for very much the same next Saturday.
Loretta ; No probs, glad you liked it. There may be something else in the offing after the Shields gig.

Well the weather in Shields is fabulous...... Hope next week is more of the same!!! There was a write up in the Shields Gazette yesterday re the Summer Festival. Piccie of 4GM followed by:
"Next Saturday its the turn of Four Good Men, a Scottish band whose members have between them sold 40 million records. The line-up features Derek Forbes and Mick McNeil from Simple Minds, Bruce Watson from Big Country and Ian Donaldson from H2O.
In their previous groups they've had almost 60 top 40 singles and 20 top 10 albums - including eight number ones. Now they have come together as Four Good Men to perform their former groups' hits. Their set includes 1980's classics such as Dont You Forget About Me and In a Big Country. The gig will be a good chance to relive those days, but they've been working on some original material too."
I know the amphitheatre is going to be absolutely packed out - and especially if its weather like this. I would suggest we all meet up at the New Crown fairly early as the support act comes on at 7pm. Mott the Hoople are playing tonight. I'll have a wander by and see what time the place gets busy...... next week I imagine it will be 100% busier...!! Roll on the 10th.

That's abit personal Derek!

Not sure what time we will be there, Loretta.. but FFL is hoping to be at the bar some time before 4pm. It depends on the traffic I guess on the way from her neck of the woods..
Looking forward to seeing you there, and I will chat to you tomorrow..

ALI BIN TABNAB
|
Loretta,
I take it you're train is heading for Newcastle, if so, just get a Metro to South Shields from Newcastle central station and you'll be there in no time.
Mr Tabnab

Loretta

Hi Tabnab, yes, the train better be heading for Newcastle or that's me stuffed

Nikki has been in touch with me to let me know that there is an after show gig in a pub called the Marsden Rattler. The group are called Malarky, and Andy (who booked 4GM for the amphitheatre gig) is in the band.

Well al be watchin' England stuff the Paraguayans on Satda' efternoon and hopefully al stagger roond to this New Crown carry on and get some mare sauce doon me neck. Hey, al be fookin' hammered when Deggsy and co tek titha stage. Let's hope double vision doesn't kick in when am watchin' the show, a went ti' see The Beautiful South a couple o' weeks since and counted 22 band members !! Aye, not a good idea ti' get mortal afore the gig [be warned FunFoxyLady]
Anyways, not lang ti' wait now eh folks. Three days and countin'.
Anyone wantin' a decent fish supper can head along Ocean Road to Colmans chippy, they dee a luvlee mushy pea fritter for ten bob anarl
Hey, al not get much sleep come Friday neet, owa excited.
Hope a dinnat pittle the bed
Av got the mother in law sleepin' over again [yawn] , aye she can't stop away from our house lately, she's like a bad fookin' disease
Let's hope Tabnab doesn't have to go in and wake her up on Satda' morn. The last time a clocked her uglee mush a had nightmares for a fotneet Don't get me wrong folks, she's a lovely kind-hearted woman but on a morning she has a face like a bulldog lickin' piss off a nettle
Ye get nowt but grief off the woman
TWIST
TWIST

Am gonna call her 'Rucksack'...she's nivver off me fookin' back !!
Am thinkin' of tekkin' her along titha gig to introduce her to Big Tam. His arse'll look like a processed pea compared to hers !!!

Hi Ali.. Great minds have same musical tastes,
I went to see the Beautiful South/Aberfeldy at the Empress Ballroom, Blackpool last night. There were a good few people on stage, but not quite the 22 you counted!!
|
ALI BIN TABNAB
|
Aye Jean, they played a great set eh. Heaton stole the show at Newcastle. Aberfeldy weren't too bad a suppose, wierd outfits though
Are you a 36D by the way ??
|
Jean Genie
|
I wish... LOL
We love our love in different sizes..
btw Did you know that Aberfeldy are managed by Bruce Findlay??
|
ALI BIN TABNAB
|
Aye, that's reet pet. He has a reputation for managing dodgy bands........he he he. I wonder if the Aberfeldy keyboard player is still wearing her space boots in this heat .......phew ! I couldn't help thinkin' the singer beared a slight resemblance to Paddy McAloon from Prefab Sprout, and what was that bass player doing with his heed, a thowt the bugger was garna fall off
|
Jean Genie
|
December dates for the Beautiful South have already been announced.. I am toying with the idea of having a pre-Christmas night out at either Manchester or Sheffield. Either way, it should be a stormer if Blackpool is anything to go by..
|
ALI BIN TABNAB
|
Aye, didn't know they were doing more dates in 2006 mind you.
Deacon Blue tickets go on sale today, toyed with the idea but decided against it in the end. Another scottish band that had some canny tunes in the charts, their debut album 'Raintown' being one of Tabnabs fave albums ever
I've got a couple of tickets for New Order in October but work commitments have scuppered that one, looks like ebay will be seeing them.
Anyways, hope 4GM rehearsals went well last neet, still wondering who the mystery guitarist is though ???? Must be a scot, quoted as being one of the best, maybe a Glesgae link in there ???? Well it might me little Jimmy from Cambuslang eh........MIDGE URE He used to play with various musicians in the Princes Trust back in the 80's so he'll be used to this kinda set up. I'm probably wrong though and it'll be Val Doonican or summat. His arran cardy will come in handy if there's a stiff breeze comin' in off tha north sea eh. Hey lads, if yiz are stuck for a guitarist then Tabnab'll help yiz oot, av pulled the owld banjo string a few times !!
It's been hot down in Gods Country all this week, hope it stays that way for Satda. The ladies aren't wearin' much either. Some right crackers walkin' alang the beach, a few boilers anarl mind you. Once av got me beer goggles on though they'll look like Elle McFookinPherson......he he........'That looks like a cheap drink yiv got there pet, can a buy yer another'
Hey Derek, will there be any merchandise on sale then kidda ????
4GM T-Shirts
Cd's
Badges
pillow cases
Jane Button soap on a rope [for givin' me 'Town Halls' the once owa]
Just wonderin like ???
|
Loretta
|
Tabnab you have me in stitche's , you are truly priceless...
see ya tomorrow, will be heading for Gallowgate now , nice 4 hour journey on the bus ... Am sure it will be worth it once the band are on
|
ALI BIN TABNAB
|
Of course it will gorgeous
Just ignore all the daft Geordies when ye geroff the bus Loretta, chocker block with c.s.e's the lorra them. Being a Mackem am not owa fond o' the Geordie race ya see pet. Some o' the women frighten me though, built like Garth wi' home made tattoo's spelt wrang !!!
Gallowgate eh, it was the Gallowgate end where Alan Shearer scored most of eez goals, or should I say......penalties !!!!
Ya might hev a tad bother understandin' the Geordie lingo mind Loretta, not like Tabnab who speaks queens english at all times.......he he Nowt but oranged faced shell-suit clad slappers, eight bairns in tow [usually called Chantelle, Alexandria, etc etc] to dee a spot o' shopliftin'.....he he. I once visited a workmates house in Newcastle, a nearly passed oot off the fag smoke, hey.....a kid yer not......ON A CLEAR DAY YA COULD SEE THE MANTLE PEICE !!!!!! There bloody dog wouldn't stop lickin' it's balls either [lucky bastit]
Aye Loretta, once yer out of the Forbidden City yel be allreet. Life gets a bit more pleasant as yer head towards South Shields, not much mind, but it does improve.....trust me Once ya hit 'Sand Dancer Land' head along the main street [ocean Road] towards the fairground, just beyond that is the Sundial pub [I hope yer printin' this off] and just past that is the Marsden Rattler. The Rattler is another pub which is built round a converted train carraige. The Amphitheatre is just a bit further along from that, next to Minchella's ice-cream parlour/coffee shop.
Watch out for a lunatic Indian gentleman, whoever he is
