well ... as sad as it is to see the end of the 4gm now , there's still hope for the future concerning a new project / band , right derek !?
anyway ... my sincere suggestion to all involved , but especially to derek would be to take a break during the 2nd half of the year & think about , what u really want to do - without putting any pressure on yourself already now !
remember what i did last oct. ?
after 13 years of doing my own radio shows almost every week(end) i've jus' needed a break for some time & decided to give myself the remaining time of the year to see , what i want to achieve for myself !
i've finally started to write my book & by the beginning of 2009 had finished the 1st chapter of over 100 pages printed out text , which felt quite good back then !
as this year has started i had some new ideas for my shows & got back "live on air" with them @ the end of jan. !
[ ... ]
TAKE YOUR TIME OUT NOW , derek
that's what i say & like to seriously suggest to u , m8 !
u'll always make some music until the end of your life - i'm pretty sure about that !
jus' don't rush anything now & try to form the next new band in a hurry !
we - the fans - can wait , as there's enough other good music to listen to around meanwhile !
when u really feel that it's time to come back , then jus' come back ... but please don't rush it or u might fail , m8 !
however ... thanx a lot for the music & "stay alive !" , as the late & great stuart adamson used to say !
cheers !
olaf

Well there is not much I can say that has not been said by everyone else but I do want to say how lucky I feel to have met such great people at the Rotherham show, priviledged to see Brian, Mick and Derek on stage and afterwards until the early hours at the hotel. Derek, I may have acted like a sad act but giving you a lift in my car from the sound check to the hotel sounds so rock n roll it is a story I will tell until I die. The Glasgow show in Dec at the Classic Grande after the small concert down the road at the SECC was also fantastic. Derek and Brian absolute gents. Best of all though is the friendship made on the way and it does not end here. Many of us will meet again in Edinburgh and later in the year. 4GM has been a ball - even when I have just been keeping up with the shenanigans via the net! Good luck everyone and remember the music will always live on. Very king regards Andy. _________________ Andy |

Hi everyone
Now I'll throw my hat into the ring. I was absolutely gutted when I read the news, but please every one of my new friends near and far keep in touch. Love you all, and even though I was a comparative latecomer to the forum, you took me on with open arms (and great shoulders to lean on when I was on crutches last year LOL).
We MUST get together post Christmas for a bash in Glasgow or somewhere. Want to see Edith and Bart and the 4 Swedes again too.
Love and hugs
Eileen |

I am sure that we'll see you in Glasgow post-Christmas Eileen, if not before. Take care, and hope to catch up with you soon
